Further Update on Loss of Signal levels from the New ASTRA 2E satellite

Updates on 28 E interference - location Costa Blanca South

We have heard that a local company that the Telecommunications authorities may be investigating in Torrevieja to  complaints relating to an 'unspecified' rebroadcaster.
This is reported to be causing issues with not only satellites, but other rebroadcasters.
If this proves to be the case then we could expect a change at the lower end of the frequency spectrum where the BBC, ITV's Channel 4 channels are located, hopefully soon.

This may not be related to any other signal problems, which may be caused by weather or satellite itself(maintenance etc)

Interference on Astra 28 E - Orihuela Costa & Torrevieja area.

We have received a higher level of calls during the last few days, from a number of people with 1.4 metre dishes and even larger, losing some of the BBC's & ITV's etc.
It can be weather related (obvious heavy rain and dense cloud) or issues with Solar flares, solar storms and higher air pressure than usual.
Some 1.4  or even larger dishes are not suffering from poor reception,  this rules out weather issues and would indicate local microwave rebroadcasting interference.

This area is becoming saturated with Microwave energy from 2.4 GHz and above,

Further investigation indicates this was reported in areas where there are known issues with microwave rebroadcasting signals, however reports have been coming in from other areas.
It seems the BBC's on the lower portion of the bandwidth such as 10818 V (BBC NI / South etc) which was one of the stronger frequencies has been weakened also 10773 H.

Aside from localized interference, there are a number of other things which can affect fringe reception, we recommend that you wait a few days to see if this is a temporary issue, as we have already found that in a few instances a call out during such issues may not help matters.

We have also had a few reports of 1.9 metre dishes on the odd frequency pixelating, which is unusual.

We will be monitoring carefully over the next few days, we may well be dealing with two  issues, partially interference (locally) and a weakening of some frequencies which presently the cause is unknown - though could be weather or even satellite related.

Another rumour  (has not been proved ) has emerged regarding Astra 2E having difficulty maintaining its orbit  and they have been adjusting it within its positional limits which could be causing some differences in signal levels, however at the moment this should only be taken as a rumour as there is no real evidence to confirm it.

Try (for BBC)  Transponder 11023, Polarity Horizontal, Symbol rate 23000 (BBC 1 Scotland & Wales HD) you can try to scan in as these are on 2F not 2E and seem to be unaffected, presently by interference or weakening 2E signal.
