Satellites....Astra 2E update

ASTRA 2E STILL TESTING
It has been more than a month that the new satellite Astra 2E has been in its testing position, confusing many (including us) who understood that SES Astra was in a real hurry to get it into service before Christmas. This could still happen, depending on how fast they are prepared to move the satellite.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Is it True or False?
"All BBCs, ITVs, Ch4s Ch5 group of  TV channels etc will disappear from the SKY platform at end of October beginning November. None of these channels will physically reach Europe mainland via Satellite."
False. These services will not disappear from the Sky platform, and signals will continue to reach mainland Europe via satellite after Astra 2E goes into service. The signals will, however, be very weak in southern Spain.

BBC HD channels
There are a number of reports that BBC Three, BBC Four, CBeebies and CBBC will open  HD versions around mid December on  the satellite. At the moment these test channels can be tuned on a Freesat or Free to Air decoder, but not a cable receiver, at 11023 H, 23000, ⅔, DVB-S2/8PSK, MPEG-4, Astra 2F, labelled 8931 and 8932.

Broadband IPTV services

BROADBAND TV

No worries if you lose TV signals on the Costa Blanca, Broadband IPTV is coming of age and has developed considerably over the past 12 months.
We will be able to offer packages that can be integrated into community TV systems seamlessly, systems that have additional bonus of Sports channels, catchup TV services and more!
Your requirements would be a broadband connection with a minimum of 2 Mb/s download speed to maintain a acceptable TV experience, no computer or satellite dish is required.

Another new successful community TV installation completed

Near Villa Martin this latest Community TV installation is connected to a potential of 285 properties, each property has access to 90 English TV channels served by the latest satellite IF-IF processing system capable of stripping the 4 Satellite polarities and launching into a single coaxial service using underground RG 11 cable. The feed is a 1.9 Famaval parabolic satellite dish and processed by 3 modules with each capable of trans-coding 3 satellite transponders, 2 launch amplifiers serve the 2 x separate cable services.
Good signal levels are achieved throughout the urbanisation with carefully placed  line amplifiers. each property can have installed multiple decoders which has no effect on the high performance of the system.
The system is  expandable and can integrate other TV signal sources i.e. Cable TV (QAM) in the UHF and VHF band and Spanish TDT ( COFDM) in the UHF band.

Update on the launch of the new Astra 2E satellite

Due to be launched in May, then June followed by July, this satellite has had several delays. Now due to problems at the launch site it has been delayed once again, it could be August before the Astra 2E is launched and maybe September before it is in service. There is a lot of speculation as to it's footprint and whether we will lose channels here on the Costa Blanca, the short of it all is that no-one actually knows so we will have to wait and see.
