Further Update on Loss of Signal levels from the New ASTRA 2E satellite

Updates on 28 E interference - location Costa Blanca South

We have heard that a local company that the Telecommunications authorities may be investigating in Torrevieja to  complaints relating to an 'unspecified' rebroadcaster.
This is reported to be causing issues with not only satellites, but other rebroadcasters.
If this proves to be the case then we could expect a change at the lower end of the frequency spectrum where the BBC, ITV's Channel 4 channels are located, hopefully soon.

This may not be related to any other signal problems, which may be caused by weather or satellite itself(maintenance etc)

Interference on Astra 28 E - Orihuela Costa & Torrevieja area.

We have received a higher level of calls during the last few days, from a number of people with 1.4 metre dishes and even larger, losing some of the BBC's & ITV's etc.
It can be weather related (obvious heavy rain and dense cloud) or issues with Solar flares, solar storms and higher air pressure than usual.
Some 1.4  or even larger dishes are not suffering from poor reception,  this rules out weather issues and would indicate local microwave rebroadcasting interference.

This area is becoming saturated with Microwave energy from 2.4 GHz and above,

Further investigation indicates this was reported in areas where there are known issues with microwave rebroadcasting signals, however reports have been coming in from other areas.
It seems the BBC's on the lower portion of the bandwidth such as 10818 V (BBC NI / South etc) which was one of the stronger frequencies has been weakened also 10773 H.

Aside from localized interference, there are a number of other things which can affect fringe reception, we recommend that you wait a few days to see if this is a temporary issue, as we have already found that in a few instances a call out during such issues may not help matters.

We have also had a few reports of 1.9 metre dishes on the odd frequency pixelating, which is unusual.

We will be monitoring carefully over the next few days, we may well be dealing with two  issues, partially interference (locally) and a weakening of some frequencies which presently the cause is unknown - though could be weather or even satellite related.

Another rumour  (has not been proved ) has emerged regarding Astra 2E having difficulty maintaining its orbit  and they have been adjusting it within its positional limits which could be causing some differences in signal levels, however at the moment this should only be taken as a rumour as there is no real evidence to confirm it.

Try (for BBC)  Transponder 11023, Polarity Horizontal, Symbol rate 23000 (BBC 1 Scotland & Wales HD) you can try to scan in as these are on 2F not 2E and seem to be unaffected, presently by interference or weakening 2E signal.

English TV SIGNAL WEAKENS

English TV SIGNAL WEAKENS ( from 15th May 2014)
Reports of weaker signals from the Astra 2E Satellite, which carries BBC & ITV.

This loss of levels has affected most of Spain. It's possible that the satellite has been the subject of "maintenance", which can result in a slight movement of the beam.
This happens every few  weeks, resulting in loss of signal levels. The  satellites need to be kept on station, which is achieved by adjusting the position of them.
Hot weather and humidity can also weaken faint satellite signals.
The help push the signal back over the threshold for picture breakup are:
Better LNB, adjustment of the dish, bigger dish, more sensitive receiver or wait until they have finished their maintenance (this can result in repeated loss of signal levels over the year), don't forget we are right on the edge of the "Footprint".

IPTV NetBox verses CDN systems

IPTV Internet TV ( No Satellite dish required)
NetBox IPTV systems verses CDN systems.
NetBox
There are several versions of the "Net Box" some are connected direct to a server and are easy to operate, they are reliable with a good source of English TV channels, these are classed generally systems, user frsiiendly similar in operation to your SKY box about 299€ including first years subscription
Other versions of the Net Box  also connected to the Internet they allow  you to Scan the internet via a media player called XBMC.
XBMC's large, complex, and multi-platform nature, it is nearly impossible to release a totally bug-free version, it is not user friendly and is geared more for the enthusiast who wants to connect to multiple internet streaming services, these services are renown for considerable downtime and searching for another service is often a task you will be doing on a regular basis. They also suffer especially on HD stuttering of the  IPTV stream causing poor reception. Multiple stream sources from amatuer sites make this service complicated to operate.
NetBox ( XBMC) is about 150.00€ it's OK and reasonable value for what it does but don't expect it to meet broadcast standards.
XMBC is a free service readily downloaded from the internet, so anyone who wants to get a cheap TV service can buy an Android TV box from such as Amazon for approx 80.00€, make sure that you have a good after sales service if you buy from a supplier in Spain.
We think Android systems are not that reliable (ever had problems with your Android Phone) they are "Buggy" and ask yourself why is there so many versions of it!

CDN (Content Delivery Network)  is a large distributed system of servers deployed in multiple data centers across the Internet. The goal of a CDN is to serve content to end-users with high availability and high performance.
These services are stable and connected to  professional server systems  with extensive upload bandwidth and can cope with thousands of streaming channels at the same time via the internet, the recommended internet speed is 2 Mbps although we have seen them work as low as 750 Kbps, they are superior to other services on sale and can stream HD with no problems and are up to broadcast standards.
The box we supply also includes  90 TV channels, lots of Radio channels, most Sports including SKY Sports, BT Sports etc Added benefits are Discovery channels, History, Nat Geo, SKY Movies, many other SKY channels as well plus a extensive selection of Irish TV.. Also Video Club with numerous movies ( changed on a monthly basis).
This  TV service is excellent and in our opinion the best there is available today. We supply this box at 285.00€ which includes first years subscription, installation (Costa Blanca South) and all cables HDMI and LAN.

ASTRA 2E UPDATE

The new Astra 2E satellite is in it's final position and in mid February some English TV channels will migrate from Astra 1N (Which will move to a new position to serve the German TV community) there will be some loss of the TV service mainly on the Costa del Sol, we have no reason to suspect there will be any drastic change on the Costa Blanca. Astra state that if you already receive TV from Astra 2F (which we do) there should be no change with Astra 2E as it is the same design (we will wait and see)

IPTV Demo ( Internet Protocol Television) This integrated system is the best there is over 90 TV channels.
